Como desarrolladores, día a día tratamos de seguir las mejores prácticas. Una de esas mejores prácticas es la internacionalización, un término que cada vez se utiliza más en este mundo cada vez más globalizado. Pero, a veces no se entiende totalmente o no se utiliza aprovechando el 100%.
En esta presentación, explicaré el concepto detrás de la internacionalización, localización y sus beneficios. Mostraré cómo la cultura influencia el comportamiento del usuario y por qué tenemos que hacer más que sólo hacer «que sea traducible». por ejemplo, la internacionalización también es el formato de fechas, dirección del texto, significado de los símbolos, e incluso el humor.
La internacionalización tiene un impacto masivo en la aceptación y usabilidad del usuario. Destacaré herramientas, interfaces y mejores prácticas para realizar la internacionalización de la mejor forma en las UIs y códigos que creamos.

As developers, we try to follow best practices in our daily work. One such best practice is internationalisation, a term that’s used a lot in the ever globalizing world in which we live. However, it’s often not fully understood or not used to its full extent.
In this presentation, I’m going to explain the concept behind internationalisation, localization, and their benefits. I will show how culture influences the user’s behaviour and why we need to do more than just «making things translatable». For example, internationalisation is also about date formats, text direction, meaning of symbols, and even humour.
Internationalisation has a massive impact on user acceptance and usability. I will highlight existing tools, interfaces, and best practices to get internationalisation right in the UIs we create and the code we write.
